Are you ready to secure your new apartment lease with the help of Leap Agile Rent Guaranty? Follow this guide to understand the basic requirements, gather the necessary documents, and complete your application successfully.
Understanding Leap
Leap helps renters like you get approved for leases even if you don't meet the typical income or credit requirements. By applying for Leap, you can protect your lease and be approved for move-in.
Application process
Here's a step-by-step outline of how the application works. The entire process typically takes a few business days but may vary depending on how quickly you provide the required information and respond to requests from Leap.
- Initial application - Visit Leap's website and complete your application by submitting your information and verifying your ID and bank account through Plaid.
- Document review - Leap's underwriting team reviews your information to confirm that you meet the income, credit, and documentation requirements.
- Lease confirmation - Leap will request lease details (lease term, rent amount) from your property management team.
- Payment - You'll pay the non-refundable Leap fee based on your risk profile. This must be done before approval.
- Proof of coverage - Once payment is made, Leap issues a policy protecting your lease, and the property team will proceed with the final lease approval.
Using Plaid verification
Leap partners with Plaid, a trusted verification service that uses advanced security measures to help confirm your identity and financial details during your Agile Rent Guaranty application. Plaid lets you complete key steps quickly from your phone - no scanning, uploading, or searching for documents.
ID verification
During the initial part of your application, you'll have the option to verify your government-issued photo ID through Plaid. Plaid will prompt you to enter basic contact information and then send a secure link to your mobile device. From there, you'll simply take a photo of your ID and complete a quick facial match - all from your phone.
Bank account verification
When you reach the financial portion of your application, you'll have the option to verify your bank account through Plaid. This secure connection confirms your account ownership and shares only the necessary details with Leap's underwriting team, keeping your credentials safe and secure. Most applicants choose Plaid because it speeds up the review process and removes the need to download or upload bank statements. Plaid works with 1,000+ financial institutions.
Using Plaid is optional but highly recommended - it helps prevent delays and gives Leap's underwriting team the verified information they need right away. Plaid never shares your login credentials with Leap, and you choose exactly what information is provided.
Unable to use Plaid?
If Plaid verification is unavailable to you, you will need to manually upload the required documents to your Agile Rent Guaranty application. All pay stubs, bank statements, and other documents should be submitted as a fully visible PDF to ensure a smoother application process.
